Chris Lawton at the organ of All Saints Church, Clayton West: Hark! The sound of Holy voices

Me playing the organ at All Saints Church in the village of Clayton West near Wakfield, West Yorkshire. The organ was installed here in 1951 to replace a previous instrument. It was built by the famous 'John Compton Organ Company Ltd' and is the 'Miniatura' model. There are 3 ranks of pipes - Open Diapason, Hohl Flute and Gemshorn - all enclosed in a chamber in true Compton style and speak through into the chancel via an ornamental grille. The specification reads: PEDAL Sub Bass 16' Flute 8' Great to Pedal Solo to Pedal GREAT Tenordon 16' Diapason 8' Gemshorn 8' Hohl Flute 8' Octave 4' Gemshorn 4' Twelfth 2.2/3' Super Octave 2' Solo to Great SOLO Contra Flute 16' Diapason 8' Gemshorn 8' Hohl Flute 8' Gemshorn 4' Flute 4' Nazard 2.2/3' Flautino 2' Tremulant (affects whole organ) ACCESSORIES 3 thumb pistons to Great 3 thumb pistons to Solo 1 reverse thumb piston - Great to Pedal 1 reverse thumb piston - Solo to Pedal 1 balanced expression pedal - Diapason, Gemshorn and Flute 1! balanced expression pedal - Crescendo Double touch canceller to each department Voltmeter For this first video im playing the hymn 'Hark! The sound of Holy voices' to the tune 'Deerhurst' which shows off the main sounds on this instrument. Many thanks to organist Jonathan Newcombe for allowing me access to this splendid Compton organ. NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on youtube.

Accident on Main Gizri Road, DHA, Karachi

On Sunday , 18th March 2012, a black Toyota Hilux (with police numberplates), which was overspeeding and overtaking from the wrong side of the road rammed into a motorcycle carrying one man and two small children (visible around 0:47 in the video). The bike flew many feet and the man was critically injured. The same car took away the man and two children (hopefully) to the hospital. But this news item ( www.dailytimes.com.pk makes me wonder....
